Meet & Greet Trail Report
Huge thank you to everyone who came out I had an awesome time and it was great meeting so many new people. Also really appreciate all the current members who showed up and helped throughout the day. These rides don’t happen without you.
Big shoutout to Jim, Mike, and Greg for stepping up as trail leaders and spotters. This was 100% a team effort I couldn’t have done it without you guys. And a huge thanks to Wolfbox for hooking us up with some awesome giveaway prizes.
Congrats to Chad, Mike, and Dawn for winning the Wolfbox gear! All three products are top-notch. If you haven’t checked them out yet, definitely take a look at their G900 Tripro dashcam. They’ve also dropped some new stuff recently like off-road lights and a solid onboard air compressor.
Intermediate Ride
We kicked things off on Chop Chestnut Rd. It’s a short trail that starts near an active rock quarry. A few rocky spots and mud holes, but overall a pretty easy warm-up.
From there, we headed to the iconic Nada Tunnel and then over to Spaas Creek. This one steps things up a bit lots of creek crossings, small mud holes, ruts, and a few tighter sections toward the end. It’s one of the more popular trails in Red River Gorge for a reason. It’s a great lead-in to Pumpkin Hollow.
Pumpkin Hollow delivered like always. It starts with a slick climb and a small rock ledge at the top that stays tricky even when it’s dry. Everyone handled it really well. Being a little wet made traction tougher for the rigs toward the back of the line, but nothing the Broncos couldn’t handle. Once you’re over that ledge, it’s smooth sailing downhill to the end.
We were running a little behind at that point, so we decided to wrap it up for most of the group. A few of us kept going to hit one more Old Fincastle Rd.
This trail is more technical and keeps you on your toes. Expect some underbody contact here and there. But Broncos on 35s walked it without much trouble. One of the guys even made it through in a Badlands non-Sasquatch on 33s with no issues but a little belly drag here or there.
The climb back up takes some careful tire placement to avoid losing traction or getting hung up, but everyone crushed it and made it through clean. After that we ran Hells Creek which is a scenic gravel/dirt road on the way out called it a day and aired back up.
